Game Preview – Kings vs Vancouver – Hey Nucks! Are you ready to ruuuuumble?!

Ahhhh, the hipsters in buses have descended on California yet again. The Canucks first came to San Jose and beat the Sharks 3-2 in ot, then they made their way down the coast and killed the Ducks 5-2 and finally have landed in our home for the game tonight. I think they are ready for a beat-down and I’m pretty positive it will take a group of Kings to do it. We are coming home from a good road trip, the Dad’s left on a high note and our new coach seems to be leading us in an upswing.

Hubbypat and I will be there tonight in our 1/4 season seats ready to take on the Vancouver fans. When there are a lot of  Canuck jersey’s around you, it can get very tiring. They yell so loud and of course, I have to yell louder and usually start some crap with them. Kings games are fun! The difference with Vancouver, San Jose and Anaheim are their fans are usually real fans so I can’t call them bandwagoners like the Wing fans or  Penguin fans. Nucks in droves come down because I think paying for gas, staying in a hotel and tickets for the game are still cheaper than going to one Vancouver game in Rogers Arena.  I’ll bet there will be tons of them tonight as most would probably add on the Rose Parade tomorrow on the “things to do” list.

Before we look up some interesting notes, I have to post my favorite Vancouver pic. I know its with Boston, but its just so very classic Burrows.  Picture this on the front of the newspaper with the headline “Lucic’s tickle under the chin kills Vancouver’s Burrows!”

This is the 2nd of our 4 meetings this season and Vancouver has 50 points to our 42. But don’t despair, we beat another 50 point team just the other night! I’m looking for goals tonight from Anze and Richards. We really need those two scorers to step up.

  • Gagne is still out so Loktionov will stay on the 2nd line LW with Richards and Lewis
  • Kings are 0 for 21 on the power play
  • Kings have killed 69 of their last 71 penalties
  • Kings are tied for 1st place with San Jose in the Pacific Division
  • Kings are in 8th place and playoff contention right now in the Western Division
Quick in goal for the Kings and I believe that Schneider is in goal for Vancouver. I left Luongo in first because I wasn’t sure. Also, it looks like Martinez will play tonight so I’m guessing we see Voynov as the healthy scratch.
