Game Preview – Kings vs Canucks

Posted on January 17, 2012 by

This is the third meeting this season between the two teams and we each hold a victory and a loss. Both teams are coming off a recent loss all though ours was in OT and Vancouver was beaten by the Ducks. Haha. That’s gotta hurt. The Kings beat Vancouver on Dec 31, 2011 4-1 and The Canucks are going to come at us hard tonight especially after their loss to the Ducks. Vancouver has been called “soft” around the league and that is true afer the game we played against them. So look for a few fights tonight. Someone take out Alberts and Burrows please.

Vancouver is in 2nd place in the Western conference to our 7th place standing. Only 6 pts seperate us. I looked up information on Vancouver and the Kings in reference to player points.

A Few Interesting Player Stats:

  • Vancouver has 10 players with over 20 pts total, Kings have 5 players with over 20 pts total
  • Vancouver has 5 players with over 30 pts to the Kings 2 players
  • Vancouver has 2 players with over 40 pts and one over 50 to the Kings with one player over 40 and no over 50 pts

Why bring this up? Well, its obvious that a higher scoring team will show better in the standings. A defensive team like the Kings will struggle to place in the upper 8 for playoffs. When we were not scoring, we were at the bottom and as we have picked up the goals, we have picked up the points. Now here is the important piece of info: Kings are great in defense and goal – better than most. We pick up the scoring along with what we already have? Untouchable. That is what the King’s team can be – Untouchable. They say we used to look good on “paper” well, now we are looking good on the ice! After all is said and done, a team like the Kings with the defense AND the scoring will beat a high scoring but not great D team like Vancouver every time. Every. Time.  If we bring our scoring tonight then look forward to another beat down like we gave them on New Years Eve.

The linup stays the same with Quick in goal. Martinez, Dreweski and Westy out tonight.

For your enjoyment, the rest of this article will be pictures of the Kings beating the Canucks. You can thank me later.
