Time for the Wings! Woo hoo! Nothing better than a beat down like last time when they took us 8-2. BUT! After last night, I think the Kings will be ready for the depleted Wings and that uneven score will be in our favor after tonight’s game. Detroit is still without their best players. Lindstrom, Datsyuk and Howard are all out as well as Ericsson, Eaves and Bertuzzi. The time is now for the Kings to destroy them while they are down!
Let’s face it. Everyone talks like The Red Wings are the second coming of God. No. No, they are not. We can all agree they have a great program and great players. Well, we have great players too. The program on the other hand is another story. Before last night, I really saw some of the old Kings out on the ice. We were scoring again and skating fast. I’m chalking up the crappy game last night to JJ and the atmosphere with Carter, etc. But tonight is a different story. We know what we have to do tonight and I think the Kings will come out strong and fast. Stong D, stay in their zone. This is the 3rd of our 4 meetings this year and we lost the first two. How about a split? We’ll take the one tonight in their home and the one onTues at our house. Fair is fair after all.
Quick will start tonight and Macdonald will be in goal for Detroit since Howard is still out. Detroit needs these two points to secure a playoff spot and try to reach for the 1st place finish in the West. We need these two points to elevate us up to the 8th place for the playoffs. All I could think of was how we could end up with aa 1 vs 8, or 2 vs 7 for a Kings/Wings first round playoff series. I’m not sure my heart could take it.
Tonight we need to see some effort from Carter and Richards. Throw Penner in there too. With all the talk about how we needed help on this team for scoring and how many changes we had to have, the core of Kopitar, Brown and Williams are still the only ones still playing the game. If Carter and Richards want to join the core of the Los Angeles Kings, I invite them to show it. Tonight would be a great starting point.
A Few Notes:
- Kings fell to a 42.7% chance of making the playoffs after last night
- Richardson replaces Nolan tonight
- Westgarth and Drewiski are healthy scratches
- Kings remain in 9th place, one point behind San Jose and two points behind Phoenix
- Kopitar has his first shorty last night and the King’s 6th short handed goal this season…so far

Big game in Slovenia tonight. The country is excited as Kopitar and Mursak play against each other. Mursak is only the 2nd Slovanian NHL player so far. Here is a great article on it:
Slovenia is fired up for historic clash between Red Wings’ Jan Mursak and Kings’ Anze Kopitar

I appreciate your rationale about the players and the game last night, but, enough is enough. These men are supposed to be professional hockey players and a little taunting by the blues Jackets’ fans should not have unnerved them. They damn well better play their hearts out tonight or I will use my clout as the grandmother from hell to beat it in to them.
GO KINGS!!!

You can be a scary lady sometimes. lol! I’ll tell you what, if they play like crap tonight, then I say we send you over to Staples Center and you can beat them up
And also interesting, I’ve read that the boo’ing can actually either not bother them at all, or completely throw them off. weird huh, you’d think it wouldn’t. but they are human after all…

Tracy..let’s get Into the playoffs before we worry about who..if we couldn’t beat them then..then we would not deserve the Cup.
I thofht one of guy’s comments last night was very interesting …that JJ could well be a Red Wing in 5 years.
They already have my Brad Stewart.

My Mind knows: If they can’t win now then they don’t deserve the cup.
My heart knows: They could win if they want it enough!
in reality, its both eh?

You hit the nail on the head (or to put it into LA King’s terms: the McSorley to Brashear). The Wings are without what could be their whole first line. And they have been paying a price for that. But, even with that, games have been lost by a single goal (or blow-out wins). How many times do we see the Kings come out “gun’s a blazing”, only to peter out? Definitely the Kings have the momentum. But we have seen it all too often. I will be, as always, a hard road win for the Kings at the “Joe”. But as I always say: “Even a broken clock is right twice.
Go Wings.

What a weird game! The Wings are not shooting. They are in D mode. and Quick is not doing well. So what do we have ? a 2-2 end of 2nd.

Ok. yeah. well. crap.
We deserved to lose that one. Quick sucked tonight – he has a prob v Wings. Mental? I think so. I mean we were playing a ghost of a Wings team and we still lost! ugh!
